Do you S.I.T.?
By Dr. G. • Jul 17th, 2010 • Category: Coaching, Creativity, Meditation, Mental Practice, Spacious Minds! Is anxiety your bedfellow?
Does your attention wander — a lot?
Do you feel your portals to perception clogged?
On Thursday, July 15th, facing nearly 500 people in the Mindshare.la audience, I put forward these and other questions to kickstart my 21 Day Com/passion Challenge: Learn to S.I.T. (sm), Reboot Your Brain and change the course of y/our future!
Given 1 minute to speak to a tech/design audience prepared for an evening of “enlightened debauchery,” I knew I had to keep my S.I.T. (sm) message short, sweet and “elegant” (for you readers of Matthew May). Afterall, Mindshare’s “sex and sensibility” take on edutainment (sorry Jane Austen), demands nothing short of tweet and google worthy material.
For those of you new to the art/sci of neurosomatics, S.I.T. (sm) a.k.a. Somatic Intelligence Technology has been my answer to the M.I.T. Somatic Interface technology presented at TED 2009, a revolutionary tech that privileges proprioception in data collection. By contrast, S.I.T. (sm) is designed to emphasize “interoception,” and introduce users to the vast neurotech recording devices of “inner” and “outer” sensations. Also known as “mindfulness practice” S.I.T. (sm) trains users to embed the practice of mindfulness in an embodied way, grounding it the emergent science of contemplative brain/mind/body studies. (To learn more about this science check out the Mind & Life Institute that promotes research or check out any of the books listed in the Brain Fuel section of this website.)
If you are a cultural creative, artist or techno geek who can answer yes to any of the questions above, then join me in the 21 Day Challenge. Put skepticism aside for a moment and learn a proven method of self-inquiry and “inner reflection” grounded on ancient wisdom and neuroscience evidence to date. Reduce Stress. Enhance Creativity. Become your own citizen scientist in navigating the wonders of the mind/body connection and by doing this you’ll be wrapping your head around one of the key pillars to brain fitness.
